What do Conservatives do best? Take the high road. Let’s take stock of where the high road has taken us.
Donald Trump is the Republican nominee. Need I really say more? He lied and smeared Ted Cruz and others, and the ignorant populace ran to him, moths to a flame. We were proud of Senator Cruz, proud that he didn’t get down in the mud with Trump, proud that he stuck to the facts. But facts be damned! The sheep flocked to the vulgar rants of a self-styled Republican in sheep’s clothing. The media propped him up and shoved him down our collective throats, and the obedient masses took ignorance to a new level. Now we have a great orange clown representing our party, and those of us that believe in not compromising our integrity on the altar of the Party, are being used as scapegoats for the jester’s impending failure. We kept telling them he would lose, but they only heard the voice of Charlie Brown’s teacher, “Waa waa waa wa, blah blah blah, waa waa waa wa.”
Is there a group in this country that hasn’t been divided before or during these last years? White people have turned against their own to attack “white privilege” and even gone to the point of denouncing their race, preferring to take on a black persona. Blacks have turned on their own, destroying their businesses and livelihoods and instilling fear in their communities in the name of “Black Lives Matter.” Left against right. Left against left and right against right. Gay against straight and Christian against everyone. Religion vs. religion. American vs. American. This once united people is in complete chaos and disarray.
Our country is importing Islamists at an alarming rate, and they are waging attacks on our soil. Liberals parrot the “Islam is a religion of peace” line; there is ample evidence to the contrary, but who needs facts? It’s all about the slogan, the sound bite. I try not to lump all Muslims together; I’m sure there are many fine Muslim people, but I’m not seeing them renounce the evil done in the name of their religion. I know how it feels to be categorized; I am a Republican and a Christian. I don’t condone or associate with the Westboro Baptist Church and their hateful rhetoric and I denounce them to all who will listen. This, however, is a numbers game. As of 2010 there were roughly 1.6 billion Muslims in the world; so if just 1% of them are radical, that’s 16 million radicals, actively seeking to kill as many of us as possible.
In a quest to normalize Radical Islam, the Attorney General has taken the unprecedented step of scrubbing all of the Islamic references made by the Orlando terrorist from the 911 tapes. It doesn’t fit the narrative so they “disappeared” it. Pay no attention to the widespread societal breakdown in Europe because of the rapid influx of “refugees.” Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.
Christians and Jews are being persecuted on college campuses and across our country. The very people decrying the alleged “demonization of Islam” openly work with zeal to tear down the Judeo-Christian foundation of the United States. We’re responsible for the Orlando shooting, don’t you know? We are haters. Bigots, racists, homophobes, and xenophobes. Evidence of lies is no longer sufficient. Nobody cares for truth anymore. Truth is now subjective, fluid, just like gender and race. You can be whatever you want to be on any given day.
Religious groups are being forced, by our corrupt government, to pay for and take part in the abortion holocaust. “Rights” of women supersede all others. A crusade that began under Margaret Sanger against the “undesirable” black and handicapped communities has blossomed, with the blessing of the left and the media; the killing fields of Planned Parenthood are considered “healthcare,” and the right of every woman. Tortuous, barbaric, systematic murder is purported to be not only preferable, but kind and loving in it’s prophylactic removal of children. “Their lives may be brutal, so spare them the pain.” God help us.
Our economy is in the toilet, people are hurting; the administration puts out false numbers akin to “cooking the books.” They have a bevy of gourmets, cooking up misleading goodies for mass consumption. Our Commander-in-Chief, smiles and lies. Why it’s George Bushes fault, Ronald Reagan’s fault, the Queen of England’s fault — there’s plenty of blame to spread around, all on the right. Those darned Republican’s and their obstructionist legislature are keeping us down.
Military veterans have been thrown on the mercy of government bureaucracy; they die of neglect, and commit suicide at the rate of 22 per day. The once greatest military in the world is a shadow of it’s former self, made into a social experiment. Our selfless men and women protect and defend, and are thus rewarded; left alone to deal with nagging memories, nightmares, and dreadful wounds — abandoned by a thankless government. We’re to feel an urgency concerning the plight of transgenders in our military; where is the sense of urgency for our veterans, many of whom are hopeless or homeless?
When will we learn? At what point will we fight back? Some of us, a lot of us, are desperately trying to right these wrongs, and we do have a lot of support — quiet, non-confrontational support. We are preaching to the choir.
The left has been working behind the scenes, getting their hooks in the media, the schools, the entertainment industry, and worst, our children. For 50 years they’ve stealthily infiltrated the loudest and most intrusive elements of society; their plan worked brilliantly. Almost half of liberals voted for a socialist in the Democrat primary; the other half voted for a criminal, a crony capitalist weasel screeching whatever behooves her in the moment.
Meanwhile, the socialist liberals are so angry with the underhanded and dirty tricks of the elitist DNC, they are calling their nominee “Republican!” I suppose that’s the worst insult they know. Madness. Sadly, these people wouldn’t know the truth if it hit them upside the head; same for “Republicans” voting for Trump in primaries.
I understand, intellectually, the folks who feel they must now rally behind the nominee. I’ve always believed in that, but this time it’s been taken too far. How many stayed home instead of voting for Mitt Romney? He’s a good man, an intelligent man, and a sight better than Obama on his worst day. What was so abhorrent about him that kept people from the polls? Yet, I’m being badgered because I won’t vote for an orange buffoon who is truly devoid of integrity, brains, or good sense. I don’t think so, Tim. The Republican Party is completely off the rails, and it’s not imploding on my account.
All this has happened right under our noses while we allowed others to define us, to brand us all manner of evil.
How does one handle a bully? We teach our children that they must stand up to them, show them for the small, scared kids they are inside, but we don’t heed our own lessons when we face bullies in the political arena.
People ask how it’s possible that we’ve arrived here? Can the trend be reversed? I don’t believe so. I’ve tried to wake people up, but they roll over. I pointed out the historical implications of where we were headed, and they dismissed me with a laugh, or rolled their eyes at my “conspiracy theory.” In the last years, we’ve witnessed a steady, driving, unrepentant campaign against our Constitution and Bill of Rights. My efforts have been altogether futile.
I’ve advocated for vigilance and non-violent engagement. I sincerely thought being on the side of truth would lead us to a better day. That’s finished now. It’s time to take another tack; stand up to bullying and lies that have destroyed this once great nation.
My husband and I have been planning our move to a desolate, sparsely populated area. I’m stepping up my efforts to that end. We’ll hunker down where we can hunt and fish, get off the grid, and live on our merits. We trust ourselves (and my husband’s Ranger training.) I strongly urge you to take similar steps.
A storm’s coming; I don’t think we can avoid it. The nation is too far gone. We’ll be in a fight for our survival before long, a revolt for our country, Constitution, and natural rights. It’s going to get mighty ugly right quick, I think. Many people won’t know what hit them, they haven’t been paying attention. They’ve been sleeping. The left’s propaganda machine, the media, and the well-planned efforts from 50 years ago have succeeded; taking the high road has brought about our downfall, and I was complicit.
I’ll be taking that high road right on out of here. The time for talking is rapidly coming to an end, and I’ll not stick around for the first shots. I’ll continue speaking my mind, but from an unknown locale. That’s the only thing left for us to do.
It’s time to prepare.
